The Philly newcomer blends club and trap on a free EP.
Jordan “Swizzymack” Safford is one of the new talents in Philadelphia’s club scene and a part of the storied Brick Bandits crew. Like New Jersey contemporary DJ Sliink, Swizzymack blends bed-creaking, breakbeat-heavy club music with the trap-rap inflections that have dominated electronic dance music for the last year.
His Bass EP, for Mad Decent’s prolific Jeffree’s imprint, features three of his most crowd-pleasing compositions. The title track pairs club rumble with lithe trance stabs and is a siren-laced call-to-arms. The bassline-vocal combo on ‘Bouncin’ will have audiences twerking, and the percussion on ‘Drip’ is reminiscent of leaner, sparser Neptunes beats from a decade ago.
Stream/download the EP below, which follows similarly-inclined Jeffree’s releases by Baauer, Vjuan Allure, GTA, and more.
