Meet Yearning Kru: mysterious glitch producer, Kaleidoscope associate, and, as you can see above, owner of the most terrifying press shots known to man.

Run by frazzled shoegaze feller patten, Kaleidoscope have been operating the Limited Dubs tape series for the best part of a year, hosting releases from the likes of Karen Gwyer, Vanilla Hammer and Sculpture. Latest on the list is Taipei-via-Croydon producer Yearning Kru, who’ll put out the 21-track two-part album Cracked Lacquer/Vanadium on the label later this month.

Stitched together from improvisation sessions, Cracked Lacquer/Vanadium is an elliptical collection of scrambled atmospherics and Mille Plateux-style tinkering. The stand-out moment is the unusually punchy ‘Ximen grin’ – a submerged house track that sounds somewhere between Four Tet circa There Is Love In You and The Automatics Group. FACT have the debut play of the video – a groggy pervfest in the UTTU mould. Click below to watch.

Cracked Lacquer/Vanadium is due on July 23.
