Pusha T vs. Kendrick Lamar? Strong on paper – and, as ‘Nosetalgia’ suggests, strong in practice.

In the spirit of that front cover, the latest drop from Pusha T’s forthcoming My Name Is My Name is a resolutely minimalist piece. The spare Nottz beat sets Gaslamp Killer-friendly guitar squeal over some softly-softly percussion, and there’s a disembodied KRS-One sample floating around the mix as well. Pusha T is in Clipse mode, whereas K. Dot goes full-on Bobby Pickett (“You wanna see a dead body?”), making for an unusually eerie cut for both parties.

My Name Is My Name is due for release on October 8.
