If hearing ex-Beatle Paul McCartney tangle with a handful of the world’s most sought after producers doesn’t sound like fun, you might want to look away now.

For his sixteenth album, somewhat ironically titled New, McCartney has teamed up with Paul Epworth, Mark Ronson, Giles Martin and Ethan Johns, and the results are surprisingly rather decent. It’s not breaking down any barriers, but McCartney’s assertion that the album is “quite varied” is pretty spot on.
