Unsound returns to Krakow in October – but the festival isn’t telling us who’ll be appearing.

Krakow’s Unsound Festival has officially announced its theme for 2015, which this year will be “Surprise”.

In keeping with the theme, the festival’s organisers are remaining tight-lipped as to who will be appearing on the line-up, offering only a heavily redacted press release and confirmation of the date of the festival itself – October 11-18.

“How do our expectations affect the value we place on music as an art form?” asks one of the few visible lines on the press release. Unsound’s team also say they hope the theme will “generate a unique atmosphere,” and that artists and audience alike will want to “come along for the ride.”

Unsound’s previous themes have included “The End,” “Interference” and “The Dream,” with artists primarily taken from the breadth of the avant-garde and the electronic music underground. Last year’s event included a special commission by Atom™ and Robin Fox, and appearances from Craig Leon, Grouper, Robert Hood, DJ Funk and Berlin’s Janus collective among others.

Unsound takes place on October 11-18, and tickets for this year’s event go on sale on June 10 at midday Krakow time (11am BST) from the Unsound website. Until then you can analyse the press release below, or revisit our interview with Atom™ and Robin Fox about their Double Vision show for last year’s festival.
