Damon Albarn announces first UK shows

Newly solo artist kicks off a summer of touring.

Damon Albarn has announced two shows in London this spring to mark the release of his debut solo album Everyday Robots.

The Blur frontman will perform with his band at the Rivoli Ballroom, a 700-capacity 1950s ballroom in Brockley, and at the similarly sized Great Hall at Queen Mary University in Mile End, on April 30 and May 1.

Following those UK shows, Albarn will play a handful of European dates and festivals including SOS in Spain, Roskilde in Denmark and a headline slot at Latitude Festival in July.

Everyday Robots, which is out on April 28, was produced by XL boss Richard Russell, who previously worked with Albarn on Bobby Womack’s 2012 album The Bravest Man in the Universe. Watch him performing the album cut ‘Lonely, Press Play’ at Sundance Film Festival last month. [via Guardian]
