Apple’s new iPad is its cheapest 9.7-inch model.

Apple has launched a new cut-price iPad model to replace the iPad Air 2.

Simply called iPad, the 9.7-inch tablet is Apple’s new entry-level model, costing $329 for the basic 32GB option. The price goes up to $559 for a 128GB model with both Wi-Fi and cellular options.

The new iPad costs $70 less than its predecessor, and offers the most affordable way for musicians to start playing with the tablet’s giant ecosystem of music-making apps for iOS.

Apple has kept the price low by using the older A9 chip, as opposed to the A10 chip found in the iPhone 7. The iPad Pro still packs more power, but most music-making apps will work fine with the new iPad’s A9 chip.

Apple’s new iPad will be available on March 24 from the Apple Store. It comes in silver, gold and space gray color options, and includes FaceTime cameras on the front and rear as well as fingerprint-enabled Touch ID for unlocking.

One thing that’s not improved is the size and weight of the new iPad. The iPad Air 2 came in at 6.1mm and 0.96 pounds, while the new model is 7.5mm thin and weighs 1.03 pounds.

The new model follows Apple’s controversial iPhone and MacBook Pro, which removed the headphone jack and traditional USB ports respectively.
