Stream the swooning ‘Vistate’ from Julianna Barwick’s new OMBRE project

Back in June we reported on the dream-team collaboration of Asthmatic Kitty artists Julianna Barwick and Helado Negro as OMBRE.

Barwick’s solo a capella constructions have been a firm FACT favourite in the past, but this project sees her expanding her sound palette to take in vibraphone, guitar and synth.

A collaborative album is due shortly, and early signs suggest it’s going to be a corker. If the previously leaked ‘Cara Falsa’ was pop balladry heard through a dense fog, then the swooning ‘Vistate’ introduces us to whole new levels of pea-souper. Helado Negro’s thicker vocal takes the lead, shadowed by Barwick’s vaporous tones, while the gentlest thud of a kickdrum marks time underneath.

You can stream ‘Vistate’ below. Believe You Me is slated for release through Asthmatic Kitty on August 27.
