Unsurprisingly, the video pays tribute to 90s New York hip-hop tropes, as well.

The 17-year-old Joey Bada$$ turned heads earlier this year with his 1999 mixtape and a smooth appearance in the youth movement-focused cypher at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.

‘Fromdatomb$,’ which was produced by and features fellow PRO Era artist Chuck Strangers, combines the main theme from video game L.A. Noire with the famous “Go Brooklyn” chant that originated in Audio Two’s classic ‘Top Billin.’

For the video, the youthful Brooklyn MC is joined by his crew in those New York hip hop touchstone settings (the basketball court, the J/Z train, and various graffiti-covered blocks) as he promises to “[resurrect] Boom-Bap from the tombs.” He also promises a new PRO Era mixtape, due out December 21.
