No, we still don’t know who he/she is.

Mysterious rapper and Flying Lotus affiliate Captain Murphy has been dropping a hefty chunk of new material throughout 2012: we’ve had the frazzled The RitualTNGHT tribute ‘Shake Weight’ and Quasimoto send-off ‘The Killing Joke’. The list of theories as to who the mystery talent might be is now as long as his/her discography, with Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler, The Creator, Flying Lotus or a combination of all three all being mooted as the folks behind the mask.

As Prefix report, there’s now more data for budding sleuths to work through. ‘Immaculation’ emphasises the FlyLo link, featuring vocal contributions from Brainfeeder cohorts Azizi Gibson and Jeremiah Jae. Over a looped snatch from Ecstasy, Passion & Pain’s ‘Born To Lose You’, the oddball triumvirate mumble, mutter and blather. Evocative and enjoyable, if not exactly illuminating.

Captain Murphy’s debut record Duality drops on November 15.
