Jamie Lidell sounds more chart-ready than ever on the slinky 'You Naked'

Peep the stylish video for Jamie Lidell’s latest.

Lidell’s been gradually inching away from the digitally enhanced retro-soul peddled on 2005’s Multiply: 2008’s Jim upped the freak-funk elements, and 2010’s Compass lurched from MOR to bossa. The evidence suggests that forthcoming LP Jamie Lidell will see the Super Collider man dropping the vintage touches entirely, turning instead towards voguish contemporary pop.

As per fellow pre-release tracks ‘What A Shame’ and ‘Why Ya Why’, ‘You Naked’ is upfront pop with a hint of classic New Jack Swing. It’s the sort of tricked-out R&B cut that might feasibly turn up on Kaleidoscope Dream or – whisper it – The 20/20 Experience. The video sees Lidell pulling pin-up poses surrounded by a strobing light show, and taking a few wardrobe cues from Nate Dogg in the process.

Jamie Lidell will drop on February 18. FACT TV recently went record shopping with the singer; watch the results here.
