Stream the brooding debut EP from Modern Love duo Rainer Veil

As Rainer Veil, Liam Morley and Dan Valentine’s specialise in greyscale dance and waterlogged electronica.

Following their coming out at Modern Love’s Boiler Room special last year, the pair have just dropped the Struck EP on the label. The real triumph is the title track – jungle steeped in treacle, with touches of Lee Gamble’s triumphal Diversions 94-96. Even if nothing else quite touches that track, it’s still a strong set: ‘Wade In’ has some of Vondelpark’s low-lit charm, and ‘Slow Beaming’ and ‘Yield’ would slot onto Andy Stott’s Luxury Problems a treat. Not exactly a curveball from Modern Love, then – those looking for a surprise should check out Jack Dice’s recent EP of sepulchral trap music – but it’s still a confident, evocative debut.  [via No Fear Of Pop]
