Pop a molly I’m shreddin’.

Ecstasy anthems are nothing new, especially for British audiences, but it seems that bass virtuoso Thundercat has finally fallen under the spell, and new tune ‘Oh Sheit It’s X’ is an unsubtle dedication to the little fellers. Thankfully, Stephen Bruner avoids any awkward Rick Ross-isms or played-out takes on Trinidad James’s ‘All Black Everything’, and instead offers up a sizzling slice of bass-laced funk.

Brainfeeder main-man Flying Lotus drops in to assist on the production front, and no doubt had a hand in some of the track’s blatant analogue fetishism with soaring leads and blipping, bubbling drones. This is the kind of disco-funk we rarely hear any more, and Bruner has managed to put a new spin on an old theme – ‘Ebeneezer Goode’ it ain’t. [via Pitchfork]

Full-length Apocalypse is out on June 4 digitally and June 9 on vinyl and CD via Brainfeeder.
