Watch Kelly Rowland's video for the confessional 'Dirty Laundry'

The life aquatic.

The former Destiny’s Child singer has released a video for the starkly-confessional ‘Dirty Laundry’ (produced by The-Dream). Whether backlit on stage or floating in black water, Rowland’s performance matches the song’s dour tone. The Beyoncé-focused first verse doesn’t feature a ‘Cry Me A River’-esque lookalike, but Rowland’s tales of an abusive relationship are illustrated with a symbolic reenactment.

“It was very emotional. It took me days to record. I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it,” the singer said upon the song’s release. “I always hope that my music can inspire someone, the same way other artists inspire me.” ‘Dirty Laundry’ appears on Rowland’s Talk A Good Game, which Lauren Martin reviewed for FACT.
