Pre-Cert Home Entertainment is a new label attributed to the people behind Demdike Stare and Finders Keepers, and its first release, out this week, is a self-titled release by Anworth Kirk.

A press release describes the record as “a 22-minute collage of acousmatic oddities reclaimed from the ditches of VHS video culture…a tribute to the immersive and escapist effect of obscure and exotic film soundtracks and banks of library records, European fumetti and strange sources which feed into their fabric and enhance their psychedelic potential.”

What makes Pre-Cert and Anworth Kirk interesting is the foregrounding of Northern England roots. As with Demdike Stare, Lancashire’s countryside and the post-industrial husks that litter appear to be key to the psychedelic character of this project.

The record is comprised of twelve tracks split into two “chapters”, and spread across two sides of 12″ vinyl cut at 45rpm. The artwork (very handsome, we must say) apparently “depicts a cryptic theme set to unravel and complicate in further episodes”. The next schedule release is a “seasonal sound-collage” entitled Samhain Slant Azimuth.
