Japan – ‘Ghosts’

Mick Karn – ‘Weather The Windmill’ & ‘Lost Affections In A Room’

Dalis Car – ‘Cornwall Stone’

Mick Karn, ertswhile bassist with Japan, has died at the age of 52 following a long battle with cancer.

Karn is best known for his role in Japan, where he combined fretless bass virtuosity with a penchant for atmospheric electronics (witness the chilling keyboard work on ‘Ghosts’), but we’ll remember him no less fondly for his incredible solo album Titles and his collaboration with Bauhaus’s Peter Murphy as Dalis Car. He also collaborated with the likes of Kate Bush and Gary Numan.

According to a post on his official website, Karn passed away yesterday (January 4) afternoon surrounded by friends and family.

Duran Duran’s John Taylor today paid tribute to the late musician, describing him as “one of the great visual and sound stylists of the late-70s/early-80s.”
