If you’ve ever seen a video of Lunice live, or even spoke to the guy, then he’s probably one of the five guests to your dream musical dinner party (alongside, I dunno, Johnny Cash, Burzum and Kid & Play), but we shouldn’t forget that he also makes some pretty brilliant music. ‘Hitmane’s Anthem’ could be early Rustie, but with the skag swapped for swag – it’s packed with whistles, stuttering hip-hop drums, and these huge, snaking chords that just seem to swallow everything in their path. Like Girl Unit’s ‘Wut’, it’s poised at the perfect balance between Southern rap and UK club music, and makes for a perfect accompaniment to Jacques Greene’s more fragile The Look EP, released by the same label around the same time.
