He’s been signed to most major labels and his fair share of independents too, but for the first time in his career (we think – it’s easy to lose track) the godfather of grime’s returned to a label, in Big Dada.

The Ninja Tune sub-label released Wiley’s 2007 album Playtime is Over, an inconsistent but sometimes excellent record, and one of the few “proper” albums that Wiley’s released in a frequently fascinating career.

He announced yesterday over Twitter [news seemingly confirmed by those close to him] that he’d re-signed with Big Dada for another album, with details of a new single due for release at some point today.

In Wiley’s own words, “Its not always about the money for me its about making an album that represents me properly and sells units cos it was a good album.” Hmm.
