Pinch and We Fear Silence’s Subloaded night returns to London for a two-room session at Corsica Studios on Saturday 6 February.

Given the prominence of UK funky and, ahem, “future-garage” in clubland at the moment, there’s something refreshingly old-school about Subloaded’s line-up. It’s dubstep with a capital ‘D’, and refreshing for it.

That said, there’s nothing conventional or backward-looking about headliners Kode9 and Shackleton. The latter is fast establishing himself as one of the most devastating and ever-evolving solo live performers around, capable of generating an energy in his sets that’s perhaps lacking in his more introspective recorded works. He and ‘9 will be joined by Darqwan AKA Oris Jay, Bristol’s inimitable RSD (speaking of future-garage, Punch Drunk’s recent repress of early noughties Rob Smith productions show just how far ahead of the pack he was on that front), Deep Medi’s Harry Craze and Unlikely (Dub Pressure). Pokes and Dread MC handle mic duties.

Don’t expect any light relief in Room 2, as the keys to the DJ booth are handed to The Bug and Loefah (pictured).
