The 2010 Red Bull Music Academy‘s second term kicks off this week, and how. Below is our essential guide to RBMA’s open-to-the-public events, with the likes of Modeselektor, Untold, Rustie and Joy Orbison all on the menu. Dig in.

RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY PRESENTS BYTE BOOGIE:
Modeselektor b2b Jackmaster, Braiden, RBMA All-Stars
THE BOOK CLUB, LONDON
Tuesday 2 March, 7pm-midnight, FREE

Holy sh*t, this is set to be a night to remember: Jackmaster, one of FACT’s favourite DJs and one of Numbers’ mainmen, going head-to-head with bass-drunk techno titans Modeselektor, in Shoreditch’s very intimate Book Club. For free. Braiden and RBMA All-Stars provide support for this carnival of certain madness, and FACT will see you on the dancefloor.

DEVIATION – THE RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY SESSION:
Skream (house+disco set), 00 Genesis, Katy B, Illum Sphere, Benji B, RBMA All-Stars
CAMP, LONDON
Wednesday 3 March, 9pm-3am, £7

Benji B’s Deviation crew link up with the Academy for this can’t-fail-to-please session, starring Skream (playing a house and disco set), RBMA participants Katy B (who sung on Geeneus’s top Volumes One) and Illum Sphere, and more.

RESIDENT ADVISOR & RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY AT T BAR:
UNTOLD, SCUBA, MIKE SLOTT, JAMIE VEX’D, MARCO PASSARANI, THOMPSON, RBMA ALL-STARS
T BAR, LONDON
Thursday 4 March, 9pm-3am, FREE

An excellent basswise line-up curated by our friends at RA, headlined by Hemlock boss and all-round dance-wrecker Untold. Scuba also appears in advance of the release of his eagerly awaited new LP, and there’s support from Harlem-dwelling RBMA graduate and hip-hop deconstructor Mike Slott, and Jamie Vex’d. Upstairs is on a more house and disco-flavoured tip, with Marco Passarani and Thompson leading the charge.

A ROLLERSKATING JAM NAMED ‘RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY’:
Kenny Dixon, Jr., Horsemeat Disco
THE RENAISSANCE ROOMS, LONDON
Thursday 4 March, 8pm-2am, £10

Kenny Dixon, Jr. AKA iconoclastic Detroit house hero Moodymann, is a massive fan for roller disco culture – and he’ll be bringing with him ten of Detroit’s most notorious four-wheeled dancers to accompany his very special DJ set at South London’s Renaissance Rooms roller rink, with steel-wheel support from the Horsemeat Disco boys. Let’s reiterate: Moodymann DJing a roller disco.

A TASTE OF SONAR:
Hudson Mohawke, Bruna, Juan Son, Kidkanevil, Lunice, AD Bourke, Cherry Chan, Katy B, Ango, Space Dimension Controller, Infestus, AD Bourke, Gabriel Nascimbeni, Monosylabikk.
at THE ROUNDHOUSE, LONDON
Friday 5 – Sunday 7 March, 9pm-3am

The Red Bull Music Academy has enjoyed a long-running relationship with Barcelona’s peerless Sonar festival, and here presents a showcase of electronic rebels and romantics as part of the Taste of Sonar teaser event at London’s Roundhouse. Stars-of-tomorrow Bruna, Juan Son, Kidkanevil, Lunice, AD Bourke, Cherry Chan and many more will join LuckyMe and Warp’s impossible-to-pin-down Hudson Mohawke (live) to demonstrate that experimentalism and dancefloor efficacy can go hand in finger-clicking hand.

SECRETSUNDAZE:
Todd Terje, Sound Stream, Giles Smith, James Priestley, Vlad Caia, RBMA All-Stars
at PARAMOUNT, LONDON
Sunday 7 March, 2pm-11pm, FREE

Giles Smith and James Priestley’s evergreen house/techno institution secretsundaze connects with the Academy for a free afterhours session with special guest Todd Terje. This is the kind of party that requires no puffing up.

FACT AT THE LOCK – THE RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY CHAPTER:
Rustie, MJ Cole, Joy Orbison, Space Dimension Controller, RBMA All-stars, FACT DJs
at THE LOCK TAVERN, LONDON
Sunday 7 March, 3pm-11pm, FREE

FACT’s free parties at the Lock have become a legend in their own lunchtime, bringing bleeding-edge DJs like Cooly G, Brackles, Gemmy, Untold, Hot City and Darkstar to showcase their wares in the somewhat unlikely environs of a tarted-up North London boozer.

We’ve teamed up with RBMA to make our latest that little bit more special, and we’re joined by some extraordinarily special guests that will require no introduction to fans of the magazine: Rustie, Joy Orbison and MJ Cole. Expect house, dubstep, funky, garage, bugged out R&B and a queue around the block to get in. Support comes from RBMA participant (and recent FACT Mix contributor) Space Dimension Controller, the RBMA All-Stars and your very own FACT DJs. Arrive early – and stay late – to avoid disappointment.
