Electronic post-punk trio Detachments will release their debut album, Detachments this September on Thisisnotanexit.

The group have worked with Andrew Weatherall, members of Salem and Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford in the two years since their debut EP, and it’s Ford who produces this album. Detachments drops September 20, and will be preceded by a single for ‘Holiday Romance’, featuring remixes by Andy Blake and Wrong Island.

Maryland-based Ramp Recordings artist Maxmillion Dunbar will release his debut album, Cool Water, in October. According to Dunbar, the album is a “straight up trip through me” that takes in “boogie party fly shit”, “earth tone blasts”, “slow ocean disco” and house tributes to “Rashied Ali, the illest drummer ever.” Oh, and closer ‘Breathe What You Say’ is on a “Brian Eno and Cluster meets T-Pain vibe, just layers and layers and layers of me breathing into a vocoder, dripping away” [via Resident Advisor].

Dustin Wong, co-founder of Baltimore art-punks Ponytail and Ecstatic Sunshine has penciled in a solo release, titled Infinite Love. It’s a double CD/LP and DVD package, and sees Wong attempt to create music for an imagined orchestra through layers of loops, pedals and filters. Infinite Love is presented as a double album where each disc has the same opening and “different paths to the final codas”, giving the listener two choices as to which route to go down. Each “path” has an accompanying DVD, and the vinyl version of the album comes with a bonus EP titled Indigo and Crystal. It drops October via Thrill Jockey, and will be followed by a US and European tour for Wong.

And in more solo album news, Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith will release Margins on October 11 via Billingham Records. The album features members of the Matinee Orchestra/Warm Digits and Field Music, and represents a “collection of self-penned songs recorded with friend and co-produced Andy Hodson [from the aforementioned Matinee Orchestra] at Hodson’s home in Newcastle.”
