London’s SoundFjord gallery have organised a mighty-sounding temporary record store to run this Summer.

The store will be called Sound//Space, and will be hosted at the 50,000 square foot exhibition hall in Bermondsey’s V22 Studios from May 5 to August 31.

As well as a record store, the space will also host art and sound performances, plus workshops and lectures [via The Wire]. For record buyers who got into the spirit of last year’s Independent Label Markets, this seems like the next logical step – and dare we say it, the throwing down of a gauntlet? Either way, the more of this kind of thing the better in our eyes.

SoundFjord wants to hear from independent record labels who are interested in selling stock at the store, or who would like to participate in the overall programme of events. Labels should contact helen @ soundfjord.org.uk by April 1.
