The Eagles’ Don Henley has threatened to sue Frank Ocean.

At least according to the Odd Future vocalist’s Tumblr, he has. Ocean’s debut album Nostalgia. Ultra. featured a track titled ‘American Wedding’, which ripped the backing from The Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’. Of course, Nostalgia. Ultra. was never commercially released – Ocean gave it out for free early last year – so none of the samples were ever cleared; nor, most would assume, did they have to be.

Ocean took to his Tumblr yesterday to post that “Don Henley is apparently intimidated by my rendition of Hotel California. He threatened to sue if I perform it again. I think that’s fuckin awesome.” From Ocean’s phrasing, it seems Henley’s issue is with him performing it in the live arena, which strikes us as more than a little petty, but we’ll see if it turns out to be true [via Dummy].

It’s worth noting that ‘American Wedding’ has been taken down from YouTube, after a claim from Warner Music Group.
