The Streets’ mastermind Mike Skinner has a new memoir on the way, titled The Story Of The Streets.

In this brief clip over at The Guardian, Skinner analyses the glamour accorded to those who live fast and die early. He’s skeptical, but he also talks about the ways in which chemical instability might be considered a necessary condition of any worthwhile performance. “Getting fucked up”, he says, “is honest”.

The video suggests that the forthcoming tome might be a more thoughtful affair than your typical rock biography. You can watch it here.

The Story Of The Streets is due on March 29 through Bantam Press.
