We reported back in February that Never Mind The Bollocks was due the birthday reissue treatment.

Universal will release an ‘expanded and repackaged’ 35th anniversary edition of the 1977 LP later this year. The reissue is set to be accompanied by a re-release of punk standard ‘God Save The Queen’. According to the BBC, Lydon is far from chipper about the upcoming reissue:

In Lydon’s words: “I would like to very strongly distance myself from the recent stories and campaign to push ‘God Save The Queen’ for the number one spot. This campaign totally undermines what The Sex Pistols stood for”.

‘God Save The Queen’ originally managed to hit the Number Two spot, despite a ban by the BBC and much outraged mouth-frothing from the press. The Queen, lest we forget, enjoys her Diamond Jubilee this year.
