Big news for Night Slugs watchers: golden boy Girl Unit is set to drop a new EP.

His brilliant 2010 I.R.L EP set out his brand of futurist hybrid house, and colossus ‘Wut’ did more than any track to put Night Slugs on the map. After making a sizeable splash, Girl Unit’s had something of a fallow period: although he’s turned out remixes for the likes of Katy B and Kodiak, new material has been lamentably sparse. After a pause, Girl Unit is finally returning with a new six-track EP on the label.

As Juno Plus note, the forthcoming double 12″ will be titled Club Rez. The label promises “six brand new transcendental club tracks”, which sounds very difficult to argue with. Club Rez, as per its classy title, will arrive on white vinyl. The snazzy artwork is a collaboration between Girl Unit, label chief Bok Bok and digital artist Sina Taherkhani.

The doors will open on Club Rez on May 7, courtesy of Night Slugs. Girl Unit will also be appearing at the Night Slugs birthday party event on May 18. You can listen to Girl Unit’s stellar FACT mix from 2010 here.
