Barcelona’s Downliners Sekt will release a new album in early 2013.

The shadowy electronic duo, who pair crawling, cracked-out rhythms with moments of aching beauty, have released several albums in the past – in fact, in their early days, such as on records like 2005’s Statement of Intent, they resembled a post-rock duo more than anything. It was a series of EPs for Spanish label Disboot, however – 2010’s Hello Lonely, Hold the Nation and We Make Hits, Not the Public, followed by 2011’s Meet the Decline – that really got us excited about where the group was going, and we featured them in depth here.

The Downliners have now signed to a new label, Paris’s InFiné, with a new single, ‘Trim’ / ‘Tab’ due on August 27 of this year. This will then be followed by a full-length album early next year – their first long player since 2008.
