Kraftwerk’s long-time percussionist is readying a new record of his own.

Bartos was a member of Kraftwerk from 1975-1990, the period which saw the group release the bulk of their classic albums. He consistently played live with the group, and also racked up songwriting credits on the likes of Computer World and Man-Machine. In the years since handing in his Kling Klang key, he worked with Johnny Marr/Bernard Sumner’s Electronic project and set up his own Elektric Music ensemble. His last major release was 2003’s solo album Communication, a release that sounded a fair bit like, well, Kraftwerk.

As Exclaim report, a new record is now on the way. According to German label Bureau B, Bartos is currently “in the studio working in high speed on the very last tracks for the album.” Bartos claims to be “looking forward to the release with anticipation”. The album, currently sans title, will arrive in spring of next year. You can listen to 2003’s ‘I’m The Message’ below.
