Beth Orton is set to release a new album, her first since 2006’s Comfort Of Strangers.

Sugaring Season was recorded in Portland with a “dream band of new and old friends”. Incredible jazz drummer Brian Blade is the big name in the ensemble, which also features bassist Sebastian Steinberg and keyboard player Rob Burger. Marc Ribot and Sam Amidon both notch up guest appearances.

Although Orton’s music is definitely on the folk-pop spectrum, she’s long been a part of the dance firmament due to her numerous high-profile collaborations. She’s appeared on three different Chemical Brothers albums, and she also contributed to a pair of Red Snapper EPs back in the mid-Nineties. Beck and Terry Callier have both made use of her talents in the past.

Sugaring Season will arrive on ANTI- Records on October 1.
