Chief Keef and Lupe Fiasco beef on Twitter

Update: Following the offending Tweet, Chief Keef has since been brought in for police questioning over the shooting. The authorities apparently believe that the Black Disciples/Bricksquad beef may be pertinent to their investigation into JoJo’s murder. Keef’s label Interscope have since been under pressure from numerous quarters to drop the rapper from their books.

Keef has also taken to Twitter to express his sorrow about Jojo’s death- although, considering he finds room to squirrel details of his new album into the message, it’s questionable how heartfelt the dedication actually is: “I appreciate music, so I’m going to focus on that and sign off of Twitter I won’t have anything to say until my album drop 11/27 #R.I.Pjojo…My prayer go out to jojo’s family on their loss. He was young like me, out there trying to get it.” [via The Stool Pigeon]

Lupe Fiasco and Chief Keef, two very different Chicago MCs, have spent the last day engaged in an online spat.

In a recent interview with Baltimore’s 92 Q Jams, Lupe had taken aim at the fast-rising 18 year old, claiming that “Chief Keef scares me”: “Not him specifically, but just the culture that he represents…. The hoodlums, the gangsters, and the ones you see killing each other and the murder rate in Chicago is skyrocketing and you see who’s doing it and perpetrating it — they all look like Chief Keef”.

An evidently chastened Keef hit back on Twitter yesterday, writing “Lupe fiasco a hoe ass nigga And wen I see him I’ma smack him like da lil bitch he is #300”. Lupe, taking playing The-Dream to Chief Keef’s The Weeknd, route, tried to neutralise the beef with some open-hearted bridge-building:

“love u lil brush @ChiefKeef…i really really do from the bottom of my fucking heart. I know that street shit like the back of my hand…i’ve seen it in every way you can possibly imagine and its nothing to be proud of @ChiefKeef it TAKES and TAKES til there is nothing left….i chose not to indulge becuz its lil guys that look up to me so i try and show them a better way @ChiefKeef i aint try to BE better..I’m trying to DO better @ChiefKeef as we all should. We were born with no expectations to make it. born in the hood, live there die there…I can’t go 4 that @ChiefKeef & I can’t let the people i love, including you my nigga, go 4 that either. We kings not fucking savages and goons”. Keef, somewhat unconvincingly, subsequently claimed his account had been hacked.

It’s not the only Twitter scrape Keef’s found himself in the last week. Earlier this week, 18 year old rapper Chicago rapper JoJo was shot dead in the city on Tuesday evening. As Billboard report, Keef’s crew had been beefing with JoJo’s Bricksquad collective; JoJo’s recent-ish ‘3hunna K’ had been interpreted as a direct Keef diss. After the news broke, Keef’s Twitter ran the message  “Its Sad Cuz Dat Nigga Jojo Wanted To Be Jus Like Us #LMAO,”. Again, Keef claimed that this Twitter had been hacked. Lupe, meanwhile, has turned his ire on Spin. [via Prefix]
