Cee Lo Green confirms lunatic Christmas album; Rod Stewart and B.o.B to feature

Cee Lo Green hasn’t released an album since 2010’s unit-shifter The Lady Killer, and he’s plotting a – well, let’s say quirky – return to the business.

Exclaim report that Green is set to release, of all things, a Christmas album. After some hints earlier this year, further details have now emerged about the project.

Cee Lo’s Magic Moment will arrive, somewhat prematurely, in October. Green promises a “soulful take on a host of Christmas classics”, including ‘Silent Night’, ‘White Christmas’, ‘The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)’, and (of course) ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’.

Green’s also invited a bunch of friends into the studio to join in with the festivities: B.o.B, Rod Stewart and a cappella megastars Straight No Chaser will all contribute to the record. You might well be detecting a whiff of novelty about proceedings, but Green promises that Cee Lo’s Magic Moment will be “the real deal”.

That’s the cover art above, in which Green unleashes his inner Ron Weasley (and, in doing so, invents a vehicle that we’re calling the Cadillac Escasleighed). After that hideous Goodie Mob reunion earlier this year, will this be the gift we’ve been waiting for?

Cee Lo’s Magic Moment is due on October 30 through Elektra Records. Green’s actual new record, Cee-Lo Green… Is Everybody’s Brother, is due later this year. You can watch Green serenade Obama at the ‘Christmas In Washington’ show below.
