Slanted L.A. beatmaker Nosaj Thing returns Home on new album

After three years of relative silence, Jason Chung – aka Nosaj Thing – is returning to the fold.

Emerging from the same environs as the Brainfeeder collective, Nosaj Thing’s 2009 LP Drift was an ultra-synthetic collection of hip-hop instrumentals and electronic sketches; pristine and prim, Chung’s soundworld was drawn in vectors and dotted lines. The accompanying remix LP, meanwhile, was a peach, featuring revisions from the likes of Jamie xx, Daedelus and Dorian Concept. Since then, Chung has been pretty much AWOL – but it appears he’s been putting the time off to good use.

XLR8R announce that Chung will release a new LP early next year. Home will apparently offer “cinematic soundscapes” in a similar vein to Drift. A single, ‘Eclipse’/’Blue’, has been made available to stream in advance, and features contributions from Blonde Redhead vocalist Kazu Makino. The delicate track will arrive on 10″ on Innovative Leisure in October, and sees Chung introducing some acoustic elements into his trademark sound.

As reported, Nosaj Thing will also join the likes of Beck and Amon Tobin on a new collection of Philip Glass remixesRework: Philip Glass Remixed is slated for release on October 23.
