Freddie Gibbs shares details about upcoming Madlib collaboration, new label

Following his recent mixtape, Gibbs stays busy and preps a full-length effort with Madlib.

The Gary, Indiana gangsta rapper has collaborated twice with the revered crate-digger, on 2011’s Thuggin’ and this year’s Shame EPs. It appears a full-length MadGibbs album is next, to be released on Stones Throw Records.

“Its gonna be real special. I’m gonna drop another project after that, we just working,” Gibbs tells AllHipHop.com. “We have contrasting styles so its like a meeting of two different walks of life but it matches and I know how to rap over his beats.”

In addition, Gibbs elaborated on his new label, ESGN. “ESGN – I aint gonna tell y’all what it stands for, but its my shit I’m pushing, it’s going to be more than music, there’s going to be some films, you will see. Its going to be a buildup to shit, I just want to do more than just music,” he says. Never modest, Gibbs has a plan for which artists he plans on signing: “Freddie Gibbs, Freddie Gibbs and Freddie Gibbs.”

Last month, Gibbs’ finally released his Gangsta Grillz mixtape Baby Face Killa. Madlib recently shared unheard material in his Medicine Radio Show mix. Watch the video for ‘Shame’ below.
