Numero Group to reissue alleged Prince collaborators, Twin Cities funk and soul duo The Lewis Connection

It’s been announced that the Chicago-based Numero Group – an imprint famed for its rare funk and soul reissues – will turn its attention to the Twin Cities for its next batch of releases [via Pitchfork]

For all you parochials out there, that’s the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota – fertile ground for funk, soul and RnB in the late 70s, when it was the stomping grounds of a certain young man named Prince.

First in line is the self-titled album from the Lewis Connection – a brotherly duo who, it’s rumoured, recruited Prince to play on this record. The reissue is due out on February 12; in the meantime you can stream the sunny ‘Higher’, taken from the album, below.
