Bonobo announces new album, <em>The North Borders</em>

As expected, Ninja Tune’s Bonobo will release his fifth studio LP later this year. 

Simon Green’s Bonobo project has long been one of Ninja Tune’s most popular propositions, offering a sophisticated blend of rich electronica and heavily orchestrated neo-soul. A new album’s been on the cards for a few weeks – Green’s teased us with the coruscating ‘Cirrus’ single, and we’ve been pointed towards some early January Tweets suggesting a new album was in the process of being mastered – but, following a countdown on the Bonobo website, firm details have now finally arrived about the record.

Green’s latest will be called The North Borders, and will drop on April 1. His last LP proper was 2010’s lush Black Sands, although an impressive remix album (featuring the likes of Machinedrum and FaltyDL) dropped in 2012. ‘Cirrus’ is available to stream below. Bonobo has also announced a brace of US tour dates, included below.
