This is not a test.

Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty continue to astound with this third installment of Demdike Stare‘s continuing Testpressing series. In contrast with the spannered junglist flavour of the first two records, opener ‘Eulogy’ sounds like a dubbed-out take on Mr. Fingers’ acid classic ‘Can You Feel It’ with its rubbery synth bassline and shimmering textures. It’s a far cry from the gloomy atmospherics of the band’s earlier catalogue, but makes a welcome shift in direction into powerful new territory.

Flipside ‘Eulogy’ is back to the Demdike we know and love though, beginning with an ominous drone and building into a cacophony of coroded industrial techno.

Testpressing#003 is out now on Modern Love.
