Raffertie – once one of the madder operatives on the UK club scene – has mellowed.

Since 2009’s ‘Antisocial’, Raffertie has commanded a reputation as a fidgety, frantic producer: releases for Planet Mu, On The Brink and, latterly, Ninja Tune have offered a devil-may-care collision of rave, dubstep and beat music. This year’s Build Me Up EP, however, was a surprise, plumping for delicate songs with plaintive vocals.

The second age of Raffertie will continue on Sleep Of Reason, which will feature 13 new tracks from the producer, including a scattering of tracks from Build Me Up. The album promises an extended focus on Raffertie’s softer side, and takes inspiration from his memories of growing up amidst the dilapidated grandeur of an English seaside town. In keeping with Raffertie’s new sonic direction, the album is focused on “letting go of the worry of when something might happen, and instead embracing now.” Vocalist YADi makes a guest appearance, and 2012 release ‘One Track Mind’ also makes the cut.
