Supreme Cuts share first song off new album, announce tour dates

The Chicago duo changes direction on Divine Ecstasy.

In 2012, Supreme Cuts released the enrapturing Whispers In The Dark (one of FACT’s albums of the year) and collaborated with teenaged doomsayer Haleek Maul on Chrome Lips. On October 1, the pair will release Divine Ecstasy (as in euphoria, not E) via Dovecote Records. Last year, they hinted at what to expect from the album in an interview with FACT: a move outside their BPM comfort zone and into vocal-based music.

They deliver on that promise with the first glimpse of the album, ‘Envision’. Featuring the swooning vocals of Poliça’s Channy Leaneagh, the song is more propulsive than the ambient, meditative compositions that the group usually produces. The result is practically pop, with some truly energetic percussion and — true to the album title — a euphoric melody.

Stream the song below and check out the band’s tour dates; they’re set to open for AlunaGeorge in September.
