Gary Numan announces first album of new material in seven years; will tour with Nine Inch Nails

The new wave pioneer shares abrasive lead cut ‘I Am Dust’.

The ‘Cars’ singer will release Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind) on October 15th via his own Machine Music label. Chalk one up for the Year of the Comeback: the album is his first collection of original material since 2006’s Jagged.

Splinter was recorded in Numan’s home studio and features contributions from Nine Inch Nails / Guns N’ Roses guitarist Robin Finck, and according to a press release, the album references industrial and Arabian influences. Numan opened up about the album — and the midlife crisis that elongated its recording process — in an extensive interview with Stereogum.
