This weekend, Tom Waits played his first live show since 2008.

Performing at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit concert, the gravel-throated singer/songwriter performed a set of material old (Rain Dogs‘ ‘Singapore’ and ‘Cemetery Polka’ both get an airing) and new (several tracks from Waits’ last album Bad As Me do, too). Waits’ drummer son Casey Waits joined him, as did Primus’s Les Claypool. You can watch the set above.

Earlier this year, FACT’s Maya Kalev took on the tough task of boiling Waits’ 30 year+ discography to 10 key tracks – you canread The Essential… Tom Waits here.
