It’s not easy running an independent record store in 2013, even in Brooklyn.

The newly-opened Rough Trade outpost has been hit with setbacks this week as it’s been forced to cancel its series of live events after a slew of noise complaints. As anyone who’s lived in the city no doubt will know, noise complaints are part and parcel of running events, and the Brooklyn neighborhood where Rough Trade is based isn’t exactly empty.

Thankfully, it looks like the store is looking to resolve the issue quickly and painlessly, and representatives gave an apology and list of cancelled events via Twitter. While the shop will remain open, planned shows from The Stepkids, Lucius, Au Revoir Simone, Andrew Bird and Diiv have been cancelled, and shows from Childish Gambino and The Tourist have been moved to other venues.
