Mariah Carey details forthcoming album Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse

That’s ‘elusive’, as in, ‘one of the best-selling artists of all time’.

Mariah Carey has announced details of her fourteenth album, titled Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.

After repeated delays and changes in release strategy, the album is now due on May 27.

The title of the record is inspired by her “first and only self-portrait”, which is featured on the album’s back cover and was supposedly drawn when she was a small child. “Please don’t judge me for such a simplistic title. Come on, I was only three and a half,” she says via an introductory video message.

We wouldn’t claims to be pedagogical experts here at FACT, but the drawing seems very advanced for a toddler, doesn’t it?

Me. I Am Mariah… features production from a cast of all-stars including Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupri, Hit-Boy and Mike Will Made It, as well as guest appearances from Nas, Wale and Fabolous.

There’s also an appearance from special guests ‘Dembabies’, AKA Ms. Monroe & Mr. Moroccan Scott Cannon, AKA Roc ‘N Roe. They are her two children.

Last year’s single ‘#Beautiful’, featuring Miguel, will also be on the album, while the deluxe version includes duets with R. Kelly and Mary J. Blige. [via Billboard]
