A touching tribute for MCA Day.

On Friday, four men dressed like Tibetan Buddhist monks descended on New York City’s Union Square, breakdancing to the Beastie Boys’ ‘Ch-check It Out’. The dancers were there in support of MCA Day, “an event born from a global community built on GRATITUDE to celebrate the life of Adam Yauch.”

The rapper, director and activist best known as Beastie Boy MCA died in 2012 at the age of 47 after a battle with cancer. A practicing Buddhist since 1994, Yauch was also dedicated to the support of Tibetan independence, launching the Milarepa Fund in 1994.

No word if the dancers were actual monks (a commenter on the video suggests that they might be members of the Floor Obsession crew), but it’s a touching tribute none the less. Watch it below. [via HuffPo]
