Algerian producer El Mahdy Jr. preps EP for Danse Noire featuring Killing Sound remix
The French-Swiss collective readies an EP by a shadowy Algerian producer.
Currently based in Istanbul, El Mahdy Jr. crafts sampled-based electronic music. After a pair of releases on Boomarm Nation, the producer will release Gasba Grime, an EP where Eastern melodies and rhythms clash with Western grime and hip-hop with gnawing, hypnotic results.
Along with four originals (‘Crack-Addicted Belly Dancer’ is already up for track title of the year), the EP is rounded out by a remix by Blackest Ever Black Killing Sound (the trio of Vessel, El Kid, and Jabu).
Preview the EP below; it’s due out June 9 on 12″ and digital on Aïsha Devi’s Danse Noire imprint.
1. Zarga
