Lou Reed's gear heads to eBay

The equipment is being sold to raise funds for the Lou Reed Archive.

Earlier this year, plans were announced for an archive that would catalogue Lou Reed‘s tapes, photographs, artwork, hard drives, letters and more. And while all his “most important” gear will be kept for the archive, some of Reed’s musical equipment and road cases will be sold via eBay auction to help raise money to develop the archive.

A page has been set up on eBay; so far there are a couple Kurzweil PC2X keyboards, a Yamaha P-80 P80 Digital Piano, and a variety of rack gear. In addition, select items will be sold for local pickup before they hit eBay, and there’s an email sign-up for those listings.

In January, Rolling Stone writer Will Hermes signed up to write a “full, definitive biography” of Reed, who died in October last year aged 71.
