Varg 'Burzum' Vikernes banned on eBay

eBay follows the lead of the French court system.

Last month, Varg Vikernes was found guilty of inciting racial hatred by a French court, handed a six-month suspended sentence and fined €8,000 for publishing blogs that glorified war crimes and promoted discrimination against Jews and Muslims.

As MetalSucks reports, fans looking to sell their Burzum gear on eBay will have to look elsewhere. An anonymous reader tried to list two Burzum releases and was rejected due to eBay’s offensive material policy, which bans items “that promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual, or religious intolerance, or promote organizations with such views.”

The reader contacted eBay support to confirm, and was told that you can no longer sell Burzum items on eBay, due to Vikernes’ “history of violence.”

As Burzum, Vikernes released some of the most essential black metal albums of the ’90s, but he has became infamous for his arson attacks on Christian churches and the 1994 murder of Mayhem’s Øystein Aarseth. He was released from jail in 2009 and has in recent years lived in France with his family.
