Dirty Beaches moves onto badlands new.

After a run of low-key releases, Alex Zhang Hungtai’s Dirty Beaches project came into its own with 2011’s Badlands, a fantastically eerie collection of loop experiments that pulled from doo-wop, rockabilly and chillwave. He followed up with 2013’s great Drifers / Love Is The Devil – a highly atmospheric 2xLP of lonely, dark-night-of-the-soul dispatches.

As reported, the Canadian is about to release an instrumental album, STATELESS, record with David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley and Italian composer Vittorio Demarin. It seems that said release will be the final Dirty Beaches record: as Exclaim report, Zhang Hungtai has called time on the project for good.

The news comes from a string of tweets earlier today, which say the following:

Hi guys thank you all for the support of STATELESS, its sad to say goodbye to DB, but rest assured NEW PROJECTS NEW MUSIC COMING SOON 2015

this may not be a smart move & painful1 too, but in the long run I’ll look back& be glad I moved on from Dirty Beaches. Thank you all x

RIP DIRTY BEACHES 2005-2014.
