Calvin Harris cancels MTV EMAs appearance due to "heart problems"

Calvin Harris has cancelled his appearance at tomorrow’s MTV European Music Awards in Glasgow.

The Scottish DJ, who was due to perform at the awards show with singer John Newman, wrote on Twitter: “No EMAs for me this weekend. Got some heart problems. Heading home to see if it can be fixed x.” The tweet has since been removed.

EMA organisers announced the news on Facebook, stating: “We have some really sad news. Calvin Harris has taken ill and will not be able to perform at tomorrow’s show. He sends his sincere apologies. Get well soon, Calvin!”

Aside from casually becoming the highest paid DJ in the world this year, Harris has been developing an HBO comedy series about the world of electronic music with help from Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh. [via BBC News]
