Chicago newcomers Kywo, Keiya and Khallee come together for 'Runaway'

A song for “calling off of work and embracing seasonal subtleties with your boo.”

Kywo (aka Kyle Woods) has spent the last year or so collaborating with up-and-coming vocalists in his hometown of Chicago. He’s reunited with two — Keiya (‘Let You In’) and JODY’s Khallee (‘At Night’) — for ‘Runaway’, an 80s-flavored duet.

“Kyle’s production sounded like a fusion of shoegaze, R&B, and pop elements that Ive been really inspired by,” writes Keiya. “Khallee and I wanted to create a lush and romantic atmosphere with vocals that complimented the groove and vibe of the music.

“We started writing the song in my room with low lights and LP covers of iconic ’70s and ’80s R&B singers on the wall; in the end it made a sort of futuristic version of one those kind of classics.”

According to Woods, the three looked to “battle the brutal Chicago winter” with something “warm” — listen to the results below, in both vocal and instrumental flavors.
