Sony teams with Spotify for Playstation Music service

The partnered service will replace Music Unlimited and can be easily linked with preexisting Spotify accounts.

Sony and Spotify have announced a new music service that will be available for subscription to all Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 users. Simply titled Playstation Music the service will incorporate all of Spotify’s catalog into a service that can be accessed from the console.

In addition to streaming music as you would on Spotify, users will also be able to access the service easily in game allowing you to synch up music with what you’re playing. Just like Spotify, Playstation Music will be free to use with ads and offer an ad-free version as part of a monthly subscription.

The service will launch in early spring shortly after Sony cancels its current console based music service, Music Unlimited. The company will also offer a free month of PS Music to subscribers of the previous service.
